Welcome to my multi-purpose Writing page.
I call it multi-purpose because my intention is to use Story to:
- give you an idea of my writing style
- tell you more about myself, my background and how I do business
- share a bit about my philosophy on Writing
- encourage you to always trust your gut
Also… in case you’re wondering, all of the content on this website was written by me, and hopefully offers insight on what to expect should you and I work together.
No matter what I’m writing, I strive to create something unique. Rather than follow someone else’s recipe for how a document “should” look and sound, my style is to share information in a conversational voice and of course, make it interesting.
I’ll admit that at first, I didn’t do this intentionally. In fact, it wasn’t until I co-founded and was editor and lead writer for a health and wellness magazine that several people told me they looked forward to reading each issue because they felt like I was talking directly to them.
So, given that I just told you I was oblivious to a key component of my writing style, you can probably figure out that neither of my college degrees is in English or Writing or even Communications.
Nope! I received my Communications training on-the-job… writing and editing for my husband, in fact!
Over thirty years ago, we started a distribution business… beginning with just three employees. And as you probably know, when you own your own business and have limited capital, you cut costs whenever possible by doing most of the work yourself.
Before I knew it, I was writing sales presentations, business letters and customer communications on the regular. First, out of necessity. But before I knew it, I got to where I actually enjoyed hearing my husband ask me, “Do you have time to write something?”
If I didn’t have time for writing and editing, I’d make time… because honestly, I enjoy it.
For me, there’s nothing like taking on a project, getting myself into a zone, and creating something impressive.
Not surprisingly, the satisfaction of creating something impressive for an appreciative client only adds to the thrill.
Do you need the services of a Writer?
If you and I were to work on a project together, my preference would be to first have a brief phone conversation where you can fill me in on the project’s details.
Once we touch upon your expectations and timeframe, I’ll be able to propose a plan for moving forward, and also my anticipated costs for completing the project. (Preliminarily, I can tell you that my billing rate is $50 per hour and I work pretty fast.)
Another major benefit of having a quick phone conversation is that you can ask me any questions you might have… not to mention, it also offers each of us the opportunity to decide if we’re a good fit for working together.
Let’s face it… the possibility does exist that for whatever reason, we may not click… and that would be okay too.
My belief is that “work” should be fun for both of us. If it’s not fun, then we can just remain friends, knowing there are better opportunities for us both out there.
What I find by doing business this way is that yes, it may take a few extra minutes. But honestly, I feel that the benefits of speaking directly with the people I do business with are well worth my time.
Relationships, after all, are the foundation upon which all business is done. Getting to know the people I work with truly adds to my enjoyment for what I do. And for me, enjoyment is essential!
Hopefully this page and all the pages of my website have given you an idea of who I am, how I write and how I do business.
